Smuggler are pleased to announce the arrival of director Allie Avital to their worldwide roster.
Hailing from the New York borough of Queens, Avital binged on MTV during the Nineties before binge-watching was even a thing. Her dedication has paid off though, as she's now one of the most sought-after promo directors around
Her recent collaboration with Moses Sumney, for example, veers between tranquil and disturbing as she depicts Sumney's intense bond with a horse. Shot in glacial hues, it underlines Avital's knack for haunting and provocative imagery.
It certainly moved Smuggler co-founder and CEO Patrick Milling Smith, who says: "Allie has that rare ability to tell stories that are equal parts timeless and modern. She embraces the conceptual along with an assured focus on narrative, creating story worlds that are entirely her own."
I'm so thrilled to be working with such an inspiring roster of filmmakers... who I know will match my ambition and push me to my creative limits.
Meanwhile, Avital regards Smuggler as the ideal place to continue her directorial education: "I'm so thrilled to be part of such an inspiring roster of filmmakers, and to be working with a new team committed to aesthetic and conceptual excellence, who I know will match my ambition and push me to my creative limits at every turn."
