MORE MAGIC FROM WAVE STUDIOS
18 March 2024

After winning an Oscar for 'The Zone of Interest' earlier this month, Wave Studios have something else to celebrate... the launch of sister company Magic Edit.

Now, admittedly, after Johnnie Burn stepped on to the stage at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles to collect an Academy Award, other news may feel as though it lacks glamour, but Wave profess themselves to be as excited about Magic Edit as any number of prizes... and who are we to argue?

Among the highly talented editors available through both Wave's London and Amsterdam studios is Vanessa Wood who, as well as editing countless TVCs, cut Alan Friel's award-winning short film 'Cake'.

Also on board is Sam Hopkins who is ranked 15th in D&AD’s list of Top 100 Editors in 2022 and recently edited 'Overheated' - his first feature documentary - which includes contributions from Billie Eilish, Vivienne Westwood and Yungblud. Last year, he edited a meditative short doc which focused on the extraordinary Johanna Nordblad.

Completing the roster of editors as Magic Edit opens its doors is Meg Thorne, formerly at The Quarry and another highly experienced film surgeon with a tremendous body of work on her CV. Thorne identifies a short film called 'Filter Face' as one of her favourite-ever projects - a choreography-led piece that examined the murky world of Snapchat dysmorphia. In 2019, she cut this striking five star promo by the appropriately named band Editors.

Overseeing all this brilliance will be Wave supremo Katie Truelove, who has twenty years of experience gained at a number of different companies.
