MAX SHERMAN JOINS SOMESUCH.
4 December 2022

Director Max Sherman has joined Somesuch for representation in the UK and the Netherlands. The Canadian has more Vimeo Staff Picks than you can shake a stick at, with the latest awarded to 'Chloe Cherry Likes Her Men Like Her Tea'.

Cherry, best known as Faye in Euphoria, delivers a suggestive spin on Goldilocks and the Three Bears as she tries to nail the right temperature—much to the annoyance of uptight diners and waitresses. Her taste test is both droll and foul-mouthed, as she burns her mouth on several occasions and yearns for "a happy, drinkable, dateable person".

Before that, 'Nowadays' explored how technology affects our relationships in the modern world. From a cringey example of why Instagram and real life don't mix to a Tinder-obsessed bloke hopping into what is very much not his Uber, each vignette clicks with a generation of smartphone users.

There's no lecturing about the evils of technology though, as the surprising conclusion to a father-son lunch interrupted by Snapchat demonstrates. With smartphones a bigger part of our lives than ever at present, Sherman offers a witty, relatable look at the hyper-connected world we inhabit.

Chuck in a bevy of memorable commercials for brands like Subway and Tide and you can understand why Somesuch were keen to bring Sherman on board. Expect to see more of Sherman's "painfully honest comedy and trademark wry humour that never leaves beauty behind" in due course.
