LUCY FORBES HEADS TO SMUGGLER

Smuggler are pleased to announce the signing of breakout director Lucy Forbes to their roster.

The London-based filmmaker developed her signature comic style shooting commercials for a variety of brands, and achieved her big break with the success with the darkly funny coming-of-age story 'In My Skin'. Oh, and the small matter of season two of 'The End of the F**ing World’.

To those familiar with her commercial reel, the move into tightly-directed drama and stylish storytelling will come as no surprise. Forbes prides herself on crafting a unique vibe for each project, taking influence from a vast array of genres and eras and bringing her own nuance to the table.


In addition to making the leap to narrative filmmaking, Forbes has been vocal about the dearth of female directors being given a chance within the industry. She says that while things are improving - with more initiatives like DAVID's Sisterhood scheme being launched all the time - "it definitely needs to change a lot more". Her addition to the Smuggler roster is sure to encourage other young female directors that things aren't as bleak as they seem.


One who sees a bright future ahead is Smuggler co-founder Brian Carmody: "Lucy is an incredibly exciting addition to the Smuggler roster. She's clever, witty and charming both in person and in her work. Her experience is vast, ranging from television to commercials, celebrity and performance. We feel lucky to have the leading voice of the new generation of comedy directors joining the family."

Forbes, too, is looking forward to getting back into the commercial saddle: "After a very busy 2019 making back-to-back TV, I'm thrilled to be joining the wonderful Smuggler roster for commercial representation. There is an amazing team behind me there, and I’m excited for this new chapter in my commercial career".
