Award-winning director duo Rubberband have signed with Smuggler for worldwide representation.
The pair - Jason Sondock and Simon Davis - both hail from New York City, and have been working together ever since meeting at NYU Tisch. In between shooting and editing all their own work, they say they find time to "creatively arm wrestle" and ensure that every drop of potential is wrung from each project.
We're interested in producing work that pushes creative boundaries alongside genuinely great people.
This bullish approach to filmmaking is precisely what Smuggler are looking for in their roster, as is the pair's creative tenacity and the energy they bring to every shoot. Smuggler's Brian Carmody explains it thus: "They have the personality, taste, ambition and that relentless work ethic that helps great directors want to beat a path to the top."
While their reel is replete with successful commercial campaigns for high profile clients such as Under Armour and Calvin Klein, Rubberband's passion for making music promos is also clear to see.
With a willingness to experiment with form and style, the pair aren't afraid to tackle big concepts in their promo work. A recent film for lophiile, for example, explores the need for human contact, romance, and the heady intoxication of first love - and all in a neat five minutes, no less.
Just as Smuggler are thrilled to have Rubberband on their roster, Sondock and Davis are equally excited to come aboard: "We've never been the kind of people to have long-winded explanations for why we do what we do.
"We're interested in producing work that pushes creative boundaries alongside genuinely great people. Smuggler is the epitome of both and we couldn't be happier to call Smuggler our new home."
Filmmaker Louis Hollis - who has just been signed by Nice Shirt Films - loves a night on the tiles. After all, filming stag/hen nights, drunken revellers, and kebab shop patrons gave the London-based director his big break.
