Sweetshop director Beatrice Pegard brings qualifications in political and environmental sciences and a tidy showreel to her new home. French-Australian Pegard is a firm believer in sustainable filmmaking, impressing clients with her mean green credentials.
As well as her "strong social awareness", executive producers Morgan Whitlock and Justin Edmund- White admire Pegard's high standards from concept from completion: "Beatrice creates work that's nothing like average, and we're hugely excited she's chosen to do so with Sweetshop".
The company's London custodians add: "Beatrice has a unique perspective on the world, balancing anachronistic imagery and old school references with fresh and vivid performances, mixing seamless CG with handcrafted production design."
“
I cannot wait to shoot wild, fun, awesome. and wonderful films in the UK!
”
Sweetshop's global CEO, Wilf Sweetland, is equally complimentary: "Beatrice brings carefully considered design and iconography to the fore in her work. The beauty and confidence in her performances herald a voice for a new generation, and we are so happy Bea has chosen Sweetshop to support her."
As for Pegard, she wants to shoot "wild, fun, awesome, and wonderful films in the UK with the incredible Sweetshop and the powerhouse team that are Morgan and Justin". Expect her to keep a close eye on her carbon footprint as well.
