IAIN MACKENZIE JOINS WITH A BANG.

Renowned commercial director and cinematographer Iain Mackenzie has joined the ranks at Bang TV.

Mackenzie has been on their radar for a while, and - on producing some of “the best rushes” founder Jeremy McWilliams has ever seen - he’s earned his place. Having established himself with his technical nous and visual flair, Mackenzie sees productive times ahead with Bang.

A one man director/cinematographer, eh? What does he enjoy about combining roles? Mackenzie enjoys taking the reins on-set: “Being both director and DOP gives me full creative responsibility and it’s difficult to imagine doing it any other way.”

And this approach pays dividends? He apparently made one agency bigwig burst into tears… at the quality of his work, mind. Such a reaction shows Mackenzie is in tune with client needs while ensuring an accomplished finish - such as this Mercedes commercial.

Reverse gear in perfect harmony. Looks the part, too. Precision shoots like this have kept Mackenzie in demand. He returned to the desert for this Lexus commercial which leaves the Japanese brand’s rivals in the dust.

What prompted Bang to make their move? The company prides itself on its car output, and Mackenzie has proven to be a choice pick for marques across the world. Naturally, both parties were keen to join forces.

When the opportunity arose and Jeremy spoke to me about representation in London I was very keen to hook up.

 ”

Cool. Anything else you'd like to show us? As well as possessing a tight car reel, Mackenzie also enjoys venturing into other genres. This ad saw him direct Charles Dance in an engaging ode to New Zealand’s postal service, producing a positive outcome with a touch of thespian class.

So now he's a Bang man, how does Mackenzie feel about hitting the London scene? “When the opportunity arose and Jeremy spoke to me about representation in London I was very keen to hook up. London is a city I know very well and I’m looking forward to working with the team.”
