CANADA SIGN NICOLINA KNAPP.
27 November 2022

Director and photographer Nicolina Knapp has joined CANADA for commercial representation. The Swede impressed earlier this year with The Land of the Unfree, Amnesty International's response to the Roe v Wade debacle.

Accompanied by a stark cover of the Star-Spangled Banner, the film depicts four women (one a high-school student) now unable to end their pregnancies regardless of circumstances. In response, Norwegian singer Emilie Nicolas omits the last two lines of the national anthem, "O'er the land of the free/And the home of the brave".

Such work leads UK managing director Marta Bobic to say: "We fell in love with Nicolina's powerful imagery and emotional sensitivity as soon as we laid eyes on her work. From her short films to her commercials and photography, the world she portrays is raw and beautiful, real and magic at the same time."

Joining CANADA feels very special—an exciting step for me.

 ”

Bobic also calls Knapp a "clear, honest and unique voice" who adds further depth to the roster. So what does CANADA's new arrival have to say for herself?

"For years I've been following what they do from afar," Knapp says, "and they always keep surprising me, which I love. I've admired how imaginative and thrilling their work is to watch and still manages to have both feet on the ground. That's the type of work I want to be doing, and I'm so glad to be joining the family."
