I'd like to be a fly on the wall when Charlie Crompton, David van der Gaag, Orlando Wood and Barney Richard get together. They'd probably spend the first forty-five minutes arguing about whose turn it is to kill the fly on the wall!
But, being serious, it's certainly a risk to bring together so many big personalities and success is going to depend on their ability to rub along successfully with one another.
Worth the hassle though. Absolutely. Orlando Wood played a pivotal role in establishing a strong presence in the UK market for Biscuit Filmworks after it spent years existing on the periphery, and he's someone who has thought long and hard about the opportunities provided by the shifting landscape of the production world. He's not only extremely articulate and engaging about this topic, he's a man with a plan.
And Barney Richard has delivered success wherever he's been... most recently at RiffRaff where - under the watchful eye of founder Matthew Fone - he helped bring about a year which earned the company the Creative Circle's 2017 award for 'Most Creative Production Company'.
According to Orlando Wood, it's a shared vision that made him so determined to get Richard on board: "Very simply, Barney is the best in London and I knew that if there was even a small chance we could get him, we should put all our efforts towards that goal. He’s not only the most dogged sales person I know, but he’s also one of the best people I know.
"The first time I met Barney was 12 years ago, we set the world to rights with our thoughts about the industry and it’s been a touchstone of our relationship ever since.
