Biting the hand that feeds us since 2002.

ANOTHER SUPERHERO FOR ROGUE.

Barney Richard has become the latest high profile arrival at Rogue in their bid to recruit all of London's top sales and marketing people.

It's just a few months since Orlando Wood first parked his scooter alongside Charlie Crompton's silver dream machine at Rogue HQ but with both Carnage - their specialist car division - and US affiliate O†Positive to promote, they have added yet more beef to their sales team.

I'd like to be a fly on the wall when Charlie Crompton, David van der Gaag, Orlando Wood and Barney Richard get together. They'd probably spend the first forty-five minutes arguing about whose turn it is to kill the fly on the wall!

But, being serious, it's certainly a risk to bring together so many big personalities and success is going to depend on their ability to rub along successfully with one another.

Worth the hassle though. Absolutely. Orlando Wood played a pivotal role in establishing a strong presence in the UK market for Biscuit Filmworks after it spent years existing on the periphery, and he's someone who has thought long and hard about the opportunities provided by the shifting landscape of the production world. He's not only extremely articulate and engaging about this topic, he's a man with a plan.

And Barney Richard has delivered success wherever he's been... most recently at RiffRaff where - under the watchful eye of founder Matthew Fone - he helped bring about a year which earned the company the Creative Circle's 2017 award for 'Most Creative Production Company'.

According to Orlando Wood, it's a shared vision that made him so determined to get Richard on board: "Very simply, Barney is the best in London and I knew that if there was even a small chance we could get him, we should put all our efforts towards that goal. Heís not only the most dogged sales person I know, but heís also one of the best people I know.

"The first time I met Barney was 12 years ago, we set the world to rights with our thoughts about the industry and itís been a touchstone of our relationship ever since.

Heís not only the most dogged sales person I know, but heís also one of the best people I know.

 ”

"In an effort to avoid becoming the two old men griping at the bar, I suggested we should actually get on with working together. Iím thrilled. We have identical views and passion for this industry and our goals for Rogue are very exciting."

Barney Richard is no less effusive: "Orlando and I got very excited over a drunken conversation about the possibility of us working together. He articulated to me the immense and forward thinking ideas he, Charlie and David had for the next phase of Rogueís future and I couldnít help but be interested.

It wasnít love at first sight, more lust.

 ”

"I looked at their roster of incredible talent, then I met the team and was instantly punched in the face by the energy and enthusiasm with which they approach creativity.

"It wasnít love at first sight, more lust - and now Iím working with them to help push this formidable company forward and Iím super-thrilled to be part of it."

For Charlie Crompton, Wood and Richard are the "management dream team" for Rogue and its sister company Carnage. He proudly boasts that they are: "poised to prepare Rogue for growth in some very exciting sectors" and that he's "incredibly excited for our plans to come to fruition over the course of the next few years."

As this statement was issued in a press release, we have no idea whether it was followed - as it ought to have been - by an evil laugh.
