Schouw has become well known for his polished, cinematic style and honest approach to storytelling.
His recent ad for Fonds GehandicaptenSport showed off both these sides of his talent to great effect. Giving the audience an intimate insight into the daily struggles facing a disabled athlete, the film was well received and won a Bronze Lion at Cannes 2017.
Schouw shows off an innate ability to create human, touching narratives in a short space of time in his critically acclaimed commercial for health insurers Menzis.
Another award-winner (there are plenty of these on his reel), the film shows people from all walks of life and examines the things which make them different... and the same. It's a familiar concept, but the deft execution makes things feel fresh and compelling.
Most recently, Schouw's debut feature film 'Broers' (released May 2017) has been making the rounds on the international film festival circuit.
Following two brothers on a spontaneous road trip to France, the atmospheric film shows Schouw embracing the 'inborn scepticism' of Dutch cinema.
