Partizan Studio have signed award-winning Dutch filmmaker Marlies van der Wel to their roster for representation.
Since beginning her career in 2007, van der Wel has become critically renowned for her animation and illustration work. Her short films have been screened at festivals all over the world, delighting audiences with her distinctive handmade visual style.
Her aesthetic is the result of van der Wel's painstaking creative process, which combines hand-drawn illustrations, off-beat textures, and unexpected objects to whimsical effect. It's a process which means every project - personal or commissioned - is a real labour of love, something which shines through the finished films.
Marlies's rich, textural visual style and emotional human storytelling are so apparent.
With a reel replete with striking visuals, sparks of humour, and engaging narratives, it's no wonder Partizan's animation arm are thrilled to have van der Wel on board.
Duncan Gaman, EP of Animation, explains: "We are delighted to sign Marlies to the Studio roster - her rich, textural visual style and emotional human storytelling are so apparent. She has picked up so much award recognition over the last few years for her films on the international festival circuit.
"With Marlies being part of the film community we are hoping to apply her storytelling and visual craft to the commercial filming world".
