VISION ARTISTS WELCOME LORENA PAGÈS |
|
15 November 2022 |
|
Director of photography Lorena Pagès has joined the esteemed roster at Vision Artists. Born in Reus, Spain, Pagès grew up in a non-artistic family, but soon discovered drawing, photography, and—most importantly—films. |
Inspired by Gus Van Sant, François Truffaut, and Wong Kar- Wai, to name but a few, Pagès made short films and music videos with her friends. Like most of her contemporaries, Pagès shot and edited her early work single-handedly, but she got the biggest kick from cinematography.
"My favourite thing about cinematography is to be able to build a new world from each script, a world of emotions through the cinematic language, and the lighting and framing decisions that help build that language," the Spaniard explains. "This translates towards what the audience can feel." Pagès's philosophy is also inspired by Sven Nykvist, Ingmar Bergman's favourite DOP, who said: "The most important light is the light from within." Now an established cinematographer in her own, the future looks bright for Pagès at Vision Artists.
