FLOYD RUSS ARRIVES AT KNUCKLEHEAD.
28 October 2019

American-born director Floyd Russ says he is "pumped" to join Knucklehead for representation in the UK and the Netherlands.

Born in Los Angeles and raised in Hamburg, Germany, Russ draws inspiration from one of his adopted country's foremost directors, Werner Herzog, who once promised he would "travel down to hell and wrestle a film away from the devil if it was necessary."

Russ has had no need to resort to such measures in his career so far, of course, but the sheer level of craft and attention to detail in his films suggests nothing is off the table.

This might explain why Russ was drawn to the story of Zion Clark - a man born without legs yet determined to become an amateur wrestler. As you can see from this trailer for his 2018 Netflix documentary 'Zion', Russ aims to do the man with a ‘No Excuses' tattoo on his back justice.

Such work leads Knucklehead's Managing Partner Tim Katz to say: "Floyd's work is sublime. There's no other word for it. He can tell exceptional personal stories with disarming detail and put together visual sequences that stop you in your tracks. Just watch 'Zion' and you'll be blown away."

As for Russ, he's keen to mingle with what he calls Knucklehead's "exciting roster" and to "get going on work that stands apart from the rest." Doing so without having to visit the depths of hell would be a welcome bonus.
