Kate Hollowell has joined Epoch Films for UK and US representation. The multi-talented American is a director, singer, and songwriter who performs as Number One Popstar, a sly dig at the cutthroat nature of the music industry.
"I basically wanted to create a project that sounded like Connan Mockasin and Dua Lipa had a child who also wanted to be a comedian when they grow up," Hollowell says, which explains why her self-directed music videos, like 2022's 'Dance Away the Pain', brim with off-kilter choreography and lo-fi humour.
Such work leads executive producer Jacki Calleiro to say: "Kate is a creative triple threat – director, performer, and writer. When I met her, I was immediately dazzled by her tenacity, wit, and intelligence. A peek behind the curtain of what drives her seems to be a constant churning of ideas and a fascination with human nature."

With 'Dance Away the Pain' also set to compete at South by Southwest in March, Hollowell's 2023 is off to a good start.
Asif Kapadia, director of 'Senna', 'Amy', and 'Diego Maradona', changes tack with 'Creature', a film based on the English National Ballet production of the same name.
Jinx Godfrey, whose credits include 'Chernobyl', 'The Princess', and 'The Theory of Everything', is available for commercials again at Marshall Street Editors.
