STRAIGHT 8 @ FOCUS... AND YOUR CHANCE TO TAKE PART FOR FREE!
23 October 2019

straight 8 will be premiering their next Companies Shootout entries at The Location Guide's Focus London event on Tuesday, 3 December, where the entrants themselves will once again choose the Gold, Silver and Bronze winners.

There is still time to enter, and whether you've taken part in straight 8 before or you'd be diving in for the first time, we cannot recommend it enough. Every participating company gets such a kick out of this challenge, and there is nothing quite like their excitement at the screening.

And we're extremely pleased to announce that straight 8 have asked DAVID REVIEWS to give free entry to the best idea sent to us by Friday, 1 November.

For the uninitiated, straight 8 is a unique challenge… entrants are required to create their masterpiece on a single roll of super 8 film (two-and-half minutes). All editing is 'in camera', so the film must be shot chronologically and with great care. The soundtrack is made separately so good luck with synchronising any dialogue! The unexposed film is then sent to straight 8 who will develop it and exhibit it at the Shootout event. This means that the filmmakers get to see their completed work for the first time at the exact moment the audience does. Terrifying? Of course! Thrilling? Absolutely!

All the films must be completed by Friday 22 November. It's £500 to participate and your company can enter via https://www.straight8.net/shootout-%20online.

However, one lucky company can gain a free place. The best idea sent to us at DAVID REVIEWS by Friday, 1st November will have their entry free waived. All you have to do is set out your idea in an email to straight8@davidreviews.com. Good luck!

You can take a look at all the previous Shootout Winners in this recent article which ranks them from last to first!
