Advertisers jumped for joy in 2019 when it was announced that Love Island, ITV's most valuable controversy magnet, would go from one to two series a year. As millions of viewers prepare for the winter 2023 edition (no need to worry about energy bills in the villa), let's see how two brands—eBay and Love Island—approach the series.
1. eBay
Online swap meet eBay are Love Island's "official pre-loved fashion partner", so DEPT, McCann London, and PrettyBird director Lucrecia Taormina introduce four pals who crave bargains as much as a trip to Casa Amor. The show is many viewers' ultimate guilty, so how about a bit of guiltfree fashion on the side?
2. Just Eat
More animal antics from Just Eat as tropical birds Izzy and Lloyd; geckos Gaz and Oz; and Cam the chameleon and Tina the turtle return for another menagerie of idents (courtesy of McCann London and Terri Timely of Park Pictures). The commentary remains as silly as ever, with talk of love pentagrams and a barrage of hashtags to ease viewers in and out of commercial breaks.
Asif Kapadia, director of 'Senna', 'Amy', and 'Diego Maradona', changes tack with 'Creature', a film based on the English National Ballet production of the same name.
Jinx Godfrey, whose credits include 'Chernobyl', 'The Princess', and 'The Theory of Everything', is available for commercials again at Marshall Street Editors.
