ROBERTINO ZAMBRANO JOINS NEXUS STUDIOS.
18 November 2019

Robertino Zambrano says joining Nexus Studios for worldwide representation is like joining the 1995-96 Chicago Bulls. Given that the latter was responsible for one of the greatest NBA seasons on record, it's a bold statement. But Zambrano is sticking with it.

"I'm no Michael Jordan, but I'm feeling a bit Michael Jord-ish right now," the director enthuses. "TLDR for non-basketball fans: joining the greatest team of all time, I humbly feel on top of the world."

In case Zambrano's love of hoops wasn't clear enough, his 2014 short film ‘Love in the Time of March Madness' - a reference to college basketball's annual showpiece tournament - should put any confusion to rest.

Co-directed with writer and filmmaker Melissa Johnson, the autobiographical film won Best Online Short at the Tribeca Film Festival, and was shortlisted for the Academy Award for Best Animated Short Film.

Robertino has been a friend of Nexus for some time and all along he’s been fashioning beautifully crafted animated stories that stand out.

 ”

Since then he's mostly been busy directing content for the likes of TED (Technology, Entertainment and Design) and its educational off-shoot, TED-Ed. Below is an expressive and reactive piece of animation to accompany poet Denice Froham's 'Accents'.

It's projects like this that led Nexus Studios to make their long-time acquaintance with Zambrano permanent. ECD Christopher O'Reilly explains: "Robertino has been a friend of Nexus for some time and all along he's been fashioning beautifully crafted animated stories that stand out.

"He's shown an ability to make films with humour and wit, but also with depth and seriousness when required. He is a great talent and we're delighted that he will be joining us all here."
