CHRISTIAN & PATRICK HIT THE SWEETSHOP.
19 March 2021

British-Taiwanese directing duo Christian & Patrick have joined The Sweetshop for global representation.

Christian McKenzie and Patrick Chen met at Bartlett School of Architecture in London, bonding over films, animation, and experimental music. Combined with their studious mindset, the pair carved out a niche for themselves in the promo realm.

A string of videos for Icelandic innovator Björk demonstrated their knack for crafting bespoke visual identities, and the advertising industry soon cottoned on. Christian & Patrick's 2014 Dulux ad, for example, was a Prohibition-inspired jolt for the sector.

This and the duo's Thomas Cook work make Sweetshop EP Morgan Whitlock excited for the future: "I've loved Christian & Patrick's work for a long time. Their craft and vision are on another level, and I can't wait to see what's next from them."

The Sweetshop are making the type of work we love - storytelling with a twist of humour, richly cinematic, creative, and quirky stuff.

 ”

Wilf Sweetland, Sweetshop's global CEO and partner, is equally enthused: "Christian and Patrick's work has long been held up in our industry as some of the finest display of craft and creativity of our generation. We are humbled they have chosen to join Sweetshop for global representation and look forward to continuing this journey together."

As for McKenzie and Chen, they already feel at home: "As a company Sweetshop have incredible reach, with offices around the world, but somehow manage to make it all feel local and intimate.

"We've been bowled over by their energy and ambition. The Sweetshop are making the type of work we love - storytelling with a twist of humour, richly cinematic, creative, quirky stuff. We can't wait to make our first film together."
