COLIN READ SIGNS WITH THE SWEETSHOP.

Director and skateboarder Colin Read has joined The Sweetshop for work in Australia, New Zealand, and Asia. As senior producer Jennifer Crab explains, luck and social media played a big part in the deal.

"We stumbled across Colin's Instagram and were impressed with his work right off the bat," Crab says. "A timely reach out caught him checking his messages for the first time in weeks, and after a couple of get-to-know-you chats, we were sold on the possibilities of what we could achieve working together."


Born in the Philippines, raised in Florida and based in New York, where many of his top-drawer skate films were shot, Read's always wanted to expand his horizons, but needed the right international company to do it with. The Sweetshop made it clear that Read's "street cool, edge, and mature polish' was right up their street.

So what made Read signed on the dotted line. "I care deeply about personality match and after speaking with The Sweetshop's team, I knew right away that I was at home," Read says. "I'm excited to get over there and put my spin on some fun projects with a great team of new friends." The chance to find new skate spots is an added bonus.
