When your CV includes 'made Godzilla play basketball' and 'gave Eminem a literal bloodbath', you know you're on the right track. That CV belongs to American director James Larese, who's joined MindsEye for UK representation.
A lucky charm for many big-name artists over the years, Larese (the one with sunglasses) is known for his eclectic promo reel that spans almost two decades. He's formed an especially strong bond with Eminem, directing several of the rapper's gnarly videos including 2009's '3 a.m.'
Comfortable with scenes of extreme violence and gore, Larese also has a light touch, which MindsEye reckon is ideal for the UK market. Given their comedy pedigree, this generates confidence in Larese's upcoming debut.
In the meantime, check out this promo for Action Bronson which uses green screen with barmy relish. It may be the only chance you get to see a bearded rapper defend a basketball against Godzilla without eating a mound of cheese before bedtime.
